Johnny Mc', Growing a Pair

I just read (via the Heritage Foundation, with a more thorough Daily Caller article to back it up) that John McCain has decide to foray further into contentious politics by taking some proactive initiative. In a preemptive strike against his former opponent and current U.S. Spender In Chief McCain added a little verbiage onto a bill before the Senate. The amendment simply states:

It is the sense of the Senate that the Value Added Tax increase will cripple families on fixed income and only further push back America’s economic recovery.

This step seems a bit remarkable as the Arizona Senator has taken a more vocal position lately on other Obama policies, including his regret that America has a dominant military and will soon seek to fill another Supreme Court seat, which should bring significant debate.

The bill to which Mc's short text was amended is a bill to extend unemployment benefits. It's a sad thing that the VAT language must accompany yet another increase of federal spending of American tax-dollars. But at least someone has the wherewithal to turn a lemon into lemonade, at least a drop of it.

I'm surprised by McCain's dominant resurgence. He seems to be more of a man than the one who ran just two years ago. It leads me to become curious to see what future steps this 'Maverick' takes.
